After the last school massacre in germany the responsible authorities are shocked and have no solutions. It is desired that the schools remain opened. That will soon change...
I look for feasible immediate measures, how we can protect our schools in Germany, before the next case happens. There are already very good ideas, as Design can prevent or make an attack more difficult clearly.

Which solutions were already found? Every idea is importend. Also long-term project are in demand. Please pass your ideas on to me, willingly also with quotable indication of source.

    Thanks for your help

    Best Regards

The confusion is important, and my answers crash open doors...

The question of budget, and relative rarity of such incidents  affect the answers.
But the balance sheets are heavy, and we can imagine a repetition of such incidents
     by mimetism.

    So a few thoughts:
Well before the incident, there is the question of possession of weapons, ammunition,
    and quality of the shooter.

    On the college:
Physiognomist human control and / or  video control.
    Badges.
Portals detection of metal objects to access

Finally: a shot noise generates a particular frequency and power. Could we imagine a
sound monitoring device wich implies a waiver of doubt to the police when there is  dépasssement a of normal threshold.
In France, the issue of police presence was put in some sensitive areas.
Can we imagine special formation to educationnal workers, teachers and children, first reflexs in case of agression ?
    Best regards.

Implement a procedure to be followed in case of an incident - train staff so they know what to do - the procedure should include actions when a lock-down is required, and when an evacuation or phased evacuation is required.

Install a tannoy system with both wide area and zoned faciities.

Restrict the number of entry points to the school to limit the opportunities for someone to enter the school undetected

    Have readily accessible escape routes

Have the ability to lock-down the classrooms and close the shades or curtains within classrooms to shield occupants from assailants in corridors

Install a CCTV System to cover classrooms and corridors which will allow identification and location of any suspect to be identified - this is vital since this is what will inform decisions of where and when to institute an evacuation/lockdown action.

Make sure the CCTV system is accessible from a remote location (on or off campus) so it will be available to police / first responders (only).  Design the CCTV with high quality cameras at strategic points and lower quality CCTV elsewhere to maximise value.

Train staff - practice , practice, practice
