The iDOC'09 conference brings together crime prevention experts, design professionals, academics and policy-makers across government, business, industry and the community. We are sad to pass along the news that Dallas Crampton of the Porirua Community Guardians died over the weekend of a suspected heart attack. Dallas was the driving force behind the establishment of the Porirua Community Guardians, lead and managed that team and would always be seen proudly wearing his lime green shirt. He was the Project Manager of the Safer Porirua Strategic Group that drove the process to achieve accreditation by WHO for Porirua as an International Safe Community.
Just over a week ago he attended the IPANZ Award Ceremony in which PCC and Police and other partners were awarded the Premier Award in the State Sector for Public Sector Excellence for the Safer Porirua Project. He had a deep insight and knowledge of community safety measures and was highly respected across New Zealand and internationally through the Safe Communities Foundation. He will be known to many Councillors and PCC staff as someone who cared passionately about Porirua City and our Community. We will sorely miss him.
